Argh,
New here but as I'm looking into non-catfish (my usual love) for my orinoco tanks, I find that there's soooo many places that are using names that are incorrect or are simply names that are 'the same as they've always used' even though the fish listed has been banned for export or has been fished almost to extinction and has never been tank bred.
My question is this: I only know catfish really so is there common mistakes that people see with the labeling of other fish?
I'll start off the list with the main catfish problems out here that occur at almost every store.
Farlowella Acus - twig catfish -will likely NEVER be F.acus but is almost always F.vitatta
Corydoras Jullii - Peppered Cory - will probably NEVER be C. jullii but will be the lovely C. trilineatus
Any synodontis especially S. euptera or highfin Syno - will almost always be a hybrid - true synos are really rare in our area
Can anyone add some common mislabeled fish that I should watch out for?
Thanks! |

I'm kind of surprised that no one knows which commonly available fish are mislabeled, the people here really seem to know fish, so what gives? Is it taboo to ask?
I'm puzzled. After reading many of the posts, I thought this would be a huge list by now.

I think the problem is that not too many people have the cats like you do.
I know that there are alot of SW items that the stores mislabel.I hear about it all the time. _________________ "Its all fun and games until the glass breaks" |
