Alright so here is my problem, a while back I had somewhere near 20-25 cichlids (6 yellow labs, the rest demasoni) in my 50 gal and within a 3 day period I had lost somewhere around 15 demasoni. At the time I thought it was due to the lube I used on the o-ring of my fluval, so I did several water changes and got the problem under control. The fish were left alone for a couple of months.
Recently I bought some more cichlids from a member and added them, its been a almost two weeks now and I have a bad feeling the same problem is happening again. I wake up to find fish laying on the bottom of the tank (3 up to now) in the last 2 days, and they end up dying. I tried taken one out and putting it in a hospital tank and it still died. I did a 20% water change last night and I had just done my bi-weekly maintenance at the end of last week. I checked all my parameters and they are all in check. I have the same amount of fish 20-25 in this tank. I have a fluval 405, aquaclear 50 HOB, aquaclear 70 powerhead with quickfilter. Now I have contemplated that it may be bloat but I do not over feed them usually only every other day, I thought maybe by adding more fish I may have caused the tank to cycle again but the parameters are the same as they have been for the last 4 years. Any ideas what this may be??? If you need any more info just asked I may have left some important details out by accident. |

| Are you using City of Kingston water? or well water? City of Kingston water runs between 2.5 and 3 ppm of Chlorine, even with addition of prime or other water treatments, there can still be enough residual chlorine to be toxic. |
